Why it was just yesterday that I was wondering why BBYO didn’t provide an effective communications forum for advisors and low and behold – today I have an answer. It seems that a CRW advisor has gone off and created a forum for BBYO advisors to exchange views at TheAdvisorsForum.org. It’s brand new but already there is some interesting discussion, and the category selection suggests that it has the potential to be a great resource.
I encourage all advisors to sign up. Don’t worry if the home page isn’t very welcoming (just an Accessed Denied message right now). Go ahead and and click on the Create New Account link. I got my account authorized in about a day and plan to start cross-posting there.
Highly recommended: http://TheAdvisorsForum.Org
Update Jan 9, 2020 – Looks like it didn’t go very far. But there is a facebook group now for that, not very active, but at least it exists.
BebersGhost,
Thanks for the free publicity. 🙂
It is my hope that more advisors out there will find both our sites, and use the information and medium to voice ideas and solve problems with the assistance of the global advisor community rather than being stuck on his or her own. The network of advisors out there must be treated as a global team keeping the BBYO machine oiled and tuned, not a group of individuals serving the needs of each chapter individually nor as a strict police force for BBYO policymakers. We are volunteers. We don’t have to do what we do; we WANT to do what we do. Simply, while the local culture and requirements may differ from advisor to advisor and region to region, our goal must always be the same and unified. Furthermore, it must be communicated with a clarity that even the lowest common denominator can understand and appreciate. (Something of which I think you talk about in another post on this very blog.)
Unfortunately for you and me, this concept of attaining this level of cooperation and coordination truly feels like a grassroots effort when it doesn’t and shouldn’t have to be. The tools being provided to enable advisors to collaborate are non-existent in my mind.
Hence my creation of theadvisorsforum.org.
It is my hope that through the aggregate resources that exist within our global pool of volunteers, we can grow far more effectively and organically into the age of “E-BBYO” than is currently happening today.
Again, thanks again for pumping my site. 🙂
